WAVE OR TREND

INTRO

A peek into the truly ‘hatke’ films of the first decade of the 21st century from India.

This book focuses on a clutch of films that are discernibly different from the traditional Hindi film narrative and are produced between 2001-2010. It looks at the core question of how to define independence with respect to the indies from India. This involves looking at the industry, audience, and the cinematic aspects of these films that helps them to be categorised as a separate genre from the mainstream cinema - Bollywood. The exploration of financing, exhibition, distribution and cinematic style of these films would fit into the larger issue of how much of a movement is this current wave of films by a new set of directors and screenwriters.

This is a book on film appreciation with an eye for the emerging trends of Independent Cinema from India.
